It was an awesome workshop, and we all feel great about what we accomplished and will continue to rehearse and perform and be ready for our concerts in December. We all figured Christmas is around the corner and we will be wearing our holiday attire soon, so we decided to something different and wore Hawaiian shirts! Aloha! |
At chorus this past week Oct 16, 2023, our team leader Marsha shared with us the following: 'So often we don’t realize how lucky we are …. We tend to take things for granted. Well, let me tell you, Brent and Theresa are very special. This past weekend, Theresa gave a wonderful, well received, class at the Far Western District Convention and Competition. She recently has traveled all over the world coaching choruses and quartets. Later in the weekend Brent was honored with a commemorative plaque honoring his 25 years as a Barbershop Harmony Society judge. He is also recognized as a premier arranger as he has arranged over 300 songs. He not only arranged music but is so generous with his coaching skills. He is always willing to help a chorus or quartet with a new introduction or tag for their music. Let’s be sure to NOT take this wonderful duo for granted. We are so blessed to have them as our leadership team!' Marsha is so right; we are blessed and so grateful to have these two on our team! Saying it out loud is needed sometimes. Congrats to Brent and Theresa on their outstanding accomplishments and what they do and give to the Barbershop communities! |

Second Quarter - 2023 Westwind Harmony has new shirts, color blue with a new logo and on the back of shirt is our name in bling. We got our shirts just in time for our Sing A Cappella workshop. Sing A Cappella was a huge success for Westwind Harmony Chorus on April 29, 2023. We had fourteen women register for the workshop and the four hours just flew by. With the help of region 21 4th place medalist, PHX Quartet, we had lots of fun learning a new song, putting together a performance plan and getting to perform it. We are so excited; we are already planning for next year’s workshop. Since the workshop, we had 3 ladies that were at our workshop are now members of the chorus. In June - we wore our new blue shirts during rehearsal to bring awareness to arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) Day June 30. One of our members, the one in the middle, granddaughter, Mo, has this condition. Catch all the news with photos, videos, and stories under ‘More News’ See photo page for additional photos. |

Our Sweet Adeline of the year, 2022, goes to Mags: The SAY for 2022 exemplifies all the qualities and then some… Here is the perfect example of what this year’s SAY does for the chorus: After many months of zoom meetings, due to good old Covid, a lot of members wanted more activities. SAI created some free music and learning tracks, in hopes to create one big virtual video. While no one was tasked with this effort, one member did step up and volunteer to take it on! She trained everyone on how to create audio and video files and how to upload them to the location on the web. Then she spent countless hours tweaking each audio/video file and got them sent to SAI. Everyone enjoyed the effort and asked if more could be done, so guess who stepped up again? The 2022 SAY not only tweaked the files, but she also then merged them all into one virtual video! Wow is all we could say! Mags did all the things I talked about, but she also plays piano (all four parts) and has helped the chorus during many rehearsals. She is the MacGyver of our chorus. Since this award, our director, has her on the music team to assist us with the technical aspect! |

A lot has changed in the last few years and it was a good time to do some adjustments to some of the current positions; therefore, the Management Team met and revamped some of the positions. |
Learning some new dance steps and having fun! |
Westwind Harmony Chorus had their own March Madness: Westwind Harmony had an amazing coaching session with the extraordinary Debra Lynn March 4 through March 7. Her teachings are life changing as a singer and it feels wonderful to be able to sing with such ease. All members had a PVI session with Debra. There were workshops for each of the sections and a workshop for the chorus during their regular Monday evening sessions. Besides the education, there was bonding, confidence in self and in each other and belief that the methods taught do work and of course a lot of fun! To see all the pictures, go to the 'Photos' page under 'News & Events' tab. |
